However, there is no specific reason that SKY has been favored over Rohit in the leadership role for a specific match, but keeping in mind, Suryakumar Yadav has recently led India to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and has taken the role of captaincy in the absence of regular skippers of Mumbai Indians in the past as well.

Rohit Sharma has led MI for almost 10 years in the IPL, after which SKY took the charge for the Mumbai Indians. Moreover, Rohit has been looking in great touch in batting from the very first match against KKR, where management didn't want him to take any kind of pressure of leadership which will affect his batting in any capacity.

On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav, India's T20 Captain, has a very less exposure of captaincy in the IPL as compared to Rohit as he led the team only a few times and especially in the absence of the regular skippers. However, he is considered to be the most successful skipper in T20Is with the winning percentage of over 85%.
