Virat Kohli Mourns Teammate’s Death Before LSG vs RCB, Emotional Tweet Goes Viral

RCB's star cricketer Virat Kohli has posted an emotional message for his former teammate, who recently died in an unfortunate way. Kohli's tweet came hours before the team's match against Lucknow Super Giants on May 7.

Kohli posted the message for his former India U19 teammate, Amanpreet Singh Gill, whose death was mourned by several within the cricketing fraternity. Amanpreet has shared the dressing room with the likes of Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja during their Under-19 days.

Saddened by Amanpreet Singh Gill death, Kohli took to his X (formerly Twitter) account and expressed his condolences. He wished strength and prayers to his family during this tough time.

“Shocked and saddened to hear about Amanpreet Gill’s passing. Sending prayers and strength to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace. Om Shanti,” Kohli posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Amanpreet Singh Gill death reason is not official, however, according to Cricket Today, he was suffering from a prolonged illness since the last six months. It was a shock to the Indian cricketing fraternity as he was still quite young.

Virat Kohli teammate death has come just a day prior to the LSG vs RCB IPL 2026 match. It is a crucial match for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they aim to go into the IPL 2026 playoffs.

Virat Kohli's Connection With U19 Cricket

Virat Kohli's rise in cricket started from his Under-19 days. The talented right-hander led India to the Under-19 World Cup title way back in 2008. The moment was just a beginning as he went on to achieve greater things to become a GOAT of cricket in the next few years.

While some of his U19 teammates like Ravindra Jadeja and Manish Pandey are still playing cricket, most of them are retired. Kohli's former U19 teammate Ajitesh Argal, is currently the umpire in the ongoing IPL season.

Meanwhile, Kohli is in sublime form in IPL 2026 with close to 400 runs at an average of more than 50. He has been at his aggressive best while also maintaining the consistency, which is the reason why he is in an IPL Orange Cap contender for this year.
