La Tri has been an affiliate member of FIFA since 1926 and an affiliate member of CONMEBOL since 1927. The team came to prominence after winning the Pan-American Games in the 2006/07 edition, and has managed multiple appearances in the competition over the years. La Tri has participated 30 times in CONMEBOL's premier continental competition, Copa America; the team's best performance was finishing in fourth place three times in the 1959 and 1993 editions.
The Ecuador National Football Team has only won one title in the past, the Pan American Games 2006/07. However, the latest iteration of the Ecuadorian squad promises new highs for the team and a breakthrough in the coming years and fans will be praying and calling a higher power with the hope that La Tri can get past Group E and traverse a dream run in the later stages of the competition.
While the performance during the 2022 FIFA World Cup competition leaves a lot to be desired for the national football team fans and its players, they will be highly motivated to finish higher than the 18th-place finish in 2022. Star players like Moises Caicedo and Enner Valencia bring fresh hopes and expectations for the team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Though the current set of players will not be considered as ‘golden generation’, the appearance at the World Cup will be every Ecuadorian’s dream of dreams, and they will be hoping for some magic in the upcoming tournament.
