Schweizerischer Fussballverband (Swiss Football Association)

The Swiss Football Association, aka Schweizerischer Fussballverband, was formally founded in 1895 by the combined efforts of two clubs, namely F.C. St. Gallen and Grasshopper Club Zurich. St. Gallen was founded in 1879 by the locals in the embroidery industry, where the German language was usually spoken. After the Grasshopper Club was founded in 1886, the two clubs came together to be one of the first founding members of the Swiss football association.

It is one of the oldest football associations in the world and one of the seven founding members of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which was ultimately formed in 1904. The association is responsible for organising domestic competitions, overseeing the functioning of the men's and women's national football teams, and focusing on youth development. They also work together with the clubs of the nation to promote football across the country. Over the years, the SFA has also focused on grassroots development, which has paved the way for many young Swiss players to make it big in their careers later.

History of Switzerland National Football Team: Early Years

The Switzerland national football team played its first ever official match in 1905 against France in Paris. Although they found themselves on the losing side, it started an era of Swiss football that would only get better in the coming years.
